Since the earliest days of concert poster collecting, the Grateful Dead NOTICE! Poster has always been highly coveted amongst collectors as one of the most desirable issues from the 1960's.
So much so, that The Art of Rock devoted an ENTIRE PAGE (237) of the book to showcase this issue all by itself!
In late January and early February of 1968, The Grateful Dead and Quicksilver Messenger Service set out on a tour of the Pacific Northwest. The Tour was dubbed the Quick and the Dead and six different posters showing the six different venues of the tour were issued.
The posters were designed by George Hunter of The Charlatans and featured a unique distressed “Wild West” motif that is both distinctive and very popular.
Posters from the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, are unquestionably the rarest and most desirable of the six venues. It is the ONLY venue to have it's information printed in red, and CGC has graded just THREE specimens 7.0 or higher.
The only other CGC graded specimen to have EVER appeared at auction was graded 9.4 and realized $4,200 in September, 2021.
If you are looking to add just one of the legendary NOTICE! posters to your collection, this is the one to add, and if you are assembling a collection of all 6 venues, this is certainly the set breaker!
