AOR is pleased to present the ONLY 100% ORIGINAL specimen of this poster to EVER appear at public auction!

This breathtakingly rare CARDBOARD poster was created for a concert by The King of Rockabilly, Gene Vincent and his band, The Blue Caps, performed at the Abilene City Hall in Abilene, Texas, on November 16th, 1959.

This poster is universally recognized as one of the rarest and most desirable of all 1950's concert posters.

This can be attributed to Vincent's major historical importance, the poster's extreme rarity, and outstanding, highly attractive, hard hitting graphics that were ahead of it's time.

Vincent was considered THE PIONEER of Rockabilly and as such, he was the very first inductee into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. Of course, Vincent is also enshrined in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Vincent was a rebellious figure that was hugely influential to the mega stars that came after him.

Paul McCartney stated, " We'd never seen anything like Gene Vincent. He was the first bad boy of rock ‘n’ roll. He made a huge impression on us.”

Lennon stated, "Gene Vincent was one of the greats. He was as big an influence on us as Elvis."

And Bob Dylan said,  “Gene Vincent was a true original—he was rock and roll.”

Vincent has also been noted as having been a major influence on Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, The Clash and David Bowie.

In April, 1960, just five months after this oncert, Gene Vincent was in a severe car crash with his close friend , Eddie Cochran. Cochran would die that day and Vincent sustained major injuries that he never fully recovered from.

In true rock icon fashion, Vincent died in 1970 at the age of 30.

This is the ONLY 100% ORIGINAL specimen to EVER appear at public auction. The only other previously auctioned specimen was a restored example that commanded $32,500 EIGHT years ago in November, 2017. You can see it here.

This poster measures 14" x 22" and was created on thick cardboard. The cardboard is stiff and sturdy, with 100% Full Borders with no nicks, cuts or tears. There are a couple of pinholes in each corner and light staining along the upper right edge. The pooster instructs fans to get tickets at Harry Simmer Music with"music" scratched out, and the word "drugs" written below, same as found on the previously auctioned poster.

The eye appeal is excellent in all respects!

We are excited to offer this special collecting opportunity and we know it will appreciated by the many experienced collectors that participate in our auctions. The winning bidder will be adding a true piece of rock and roll history to their collection that is sure to bring them much pleasure now , and will be even more rewarding to own with each passing year!
